The Gardens

The gardens are quiet, peaceful and surrounded by acres of fields and woodlands yet still central for touring and enjoying all that The Lake District has to offer.

Enjoy nature at its best - you can watch the herd of deer at dawn or dusk or listen to the owls in the grounds. You can also just sit by the pond, which is fed from the tarn above and read a book or enjoy a drink on the lawns and soak up the sunshine in quiet surroundings.

Magnificent topiary trees make an impressive edge to the huge lawn areas and there is a stream with a bridge that leads to two acres of fenced woodland - perfect for exploring!
