New Year at Low Graythwaite Hall

After a lovely Christmas with family, with the added bonus of our middle son, Richard being home from Shanghai, we were open for New Year and it was all systems go. It turned out to be a multi-national evening with guests from Switzerland, Holland, Canada and a couple of English thrown in for good measure. Not a wild party, but a lovely four course dinner, finished off with cheeses from Cartmel Cheese Shop and coffee and mince pies in the sitting room in front of a roaring fire (see feedback under guest comments on our web site).  We had a couple of friends up from Harrogate, Louise and Richard, to help, and also to see in the New Year with us.  And then ... lo and behold, my mad friend Louise decided on New Year’s Day to take a swim in Lake Windermere! Nothing would induce me to follow suit, even though it was extremely mild for this time of year.  And just to prove it, here she is - swimming cap and all! PS If you're a fan of the Lakeland poets (daffodils and all that!) or just love walking, the spring is a beautiful time to enjoy the Lake District and we are booking up fast!
